I'm still terribly behind! But I'm catching up, slowly but surely, and so can you. There are plenty of people around here to encourage you, and wrimobuddies always has people in it to help you out with word wars and ideas.

I just wrote over 2000 words lying on my couch (I still haven't solved the problem with my wrists hurting) with a horrible head cold. My head is stuffy, I can't really think straight, and I'm so annoyed... by... I don't even know. My nose itches, I keep sniffling, and every time I cough my head throbs. It's lovely! I intend to spend the weekend lying in bed and sleeping in and hoping that my head clears up in time for class on Monday.

How is everyone else doing? The cold, changing weather getting to anyone else? It's flu and cold season so everyone take care of yourselves! (Oh, and if you have any advice on how to get over colds, let me know.)

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

I've done sweet FA today. I've tried to write and found it impossible; I've tried to order uni stuff online and had Amazon spaz out at me; I tried to wake up and that just didn't happen until eleven. Ended up reading webcomics and being annoyed with myself.

On the plus side, I've been enjoying reading Mortipede's new piece about an egotistical sniper. He wrote it after reading That Flight of Sparrows. I like the idea of being inspiring. xD

...Still pissed off with myself. Still pissed off.

I played a bit of WoW earlier, anyway. The paladin I rolled to play with WoW_ladies is coming along alright; her gear's good enough that I four-manned RFK with a PuGed group of mage, two hunters and me. And no, the hunters didn't tank with their pets so I could heal, I tanked and healed. No one died, and we even did the escort event. It was kinda crazy. Her gear's all blues save for two remaining greenies, anyway, and she's ret-specced so she kicks arse. The economy on Saurfang-EU is brutal to rerolls, though. I made nearly 30g selling the items I made while levelling up jewelcrafting... then found myself faced with glyph prices of 15-20g. Just ouch.

My account is still set to run out in seventeen days. I've mixed feelings about it. I'm not playing much at all, but I really enjoy it when I do play. Cannae decide whether that's worth paying a monthly subscription for. ._.;

Ah well. At least I managed to get over my hatred of belves before quitting. Allé's scrawny but with ATTITUDE YO.

TL;DR: Pay at least $50 and you'll get not only a custom conbadge of yourself / your fursona / whatever in their new role as a Star Org character, you'll also get a future cameo in Last Res0rt as well. I'm doing this to raise money for the books; if I don't raise enough money, don't count on seeing the books anytime soon. If you don't feel like spending that much money, I've got a new wallpaper and some new Zazzle merch available as well.

DBZ revamped for its anniversary? HOLY CRAP.

I am in love, even if the style is only like that for the credits. T_T They're cutting bits out and fixing the colours and such... apparently the story will much more closely follow the manga, resulting in faster pace. NO MORE STRAINING SCENES. Woopwoop.

I forgot to say. Merlin was awesome last night, if a tad predictable. Arthur is ttly pussywhipped by Gwen, Imeanreally. The whole thing was utterly eclipsed by the trailer for next week's episode, though. I cannot wait five days for that. I cannot!

So as you can see, I am terribly behind. Any of you who think you're behind - check out my word count, and feel better. I've always found a way to crank out words as the month nears its end, and so will you!

I wrote my first 1600 words on a plane, which made me feel horribly sick in addition to being generally uncomfortable. Today, I sat down for an hour and tried to write on my couch. This worked well, until I realized that my neck hurt, my feet had lost circulation, and my right wrist felt like it was going to fall apart. Luckily, I'd done an hour of writing by then, which was all I could afford, but this is going to be a long month.

What physical discomforts do you encounter as you write? How are you countering them? What do you do to prevent them?
